Litter Genie Makes Cats and Their Owners Purr

I recently was given the chance to try out the Litter Genie. With 3 cats, there is a lot of "scooping" going on around my house. A few years ago I switched from clay litter to scoopable litter. It reduces the dust, odor, and weight of the litter and doesn't require fully changing out the box every week. My husband and I "scoop" the box about 3 times per day. Boston and Kit'N are not fussy about their litter, but Pixel is very fussy. If the box is not up to her standards she finds another location. We have 2 cat boxes that we scoop. We had been using a small black flip-top wastebasket and plastic grocery sacks, however it didn't really seal away the odors and often the litter would slip out thru any tiny holes in the bag. So, 2 cat boxes, 1 flip top wastebasket, 1 small garbage pail to hold the 1 large scooper, a brush and tiny tray, and often, a bag of litter, all this had to fit in one small corner of my laundry room. I needed a solution. I was excited to give the Litter Genie a try. Here are some shots of the unboxing (under supervision from Kit'N):

Litter Genie truly simplifies our thrice daily "scooping". It is a larger container than we had, it has an attached scoop holder, and it comes with a scoop. Even though the container was larger, it added the size to the height of the container, so it still fit between the boxes and the dryer. The entire area just looked better, even though no one was coming to view it. ;) It was amazing what a difference this change made:

The scoop works very well for actually getting to the bottom of the litterbox. It is so convenient to have the scoop holder as it keeps it off the floor or needing to have a container just for the scoop. It is very easy to use, just lift the top of the Litter Genie, scoop and drop the waste into the hole. Once it is half full or a bit more, pull out the slide to drop the waste into the multiple layered plastic waste holding bag. I have really noticed a difference. There is less mess, and much less odor. It really locks the odor into the holding bag. To remove the bag once it is full, just lift the top half of the Litter Genie, cut the bag, tie it off, pull the new bag-to-be down and tie a knot and you are ready to go again. I will say it is important to keep an eye on how full the bag gets. If it is too full the litter put into the top will not go down.

The Litter Genie is a great solution for small areas and for a house to be free of "catbox odor". I definitely recommend it for one cat households. If you have multiple cats, like we do, and scoop several times a day, like we do, the cost of the refills for the bags can really add up. As I have mentioned, you must make sure that you do not overfill the bag or you are left with a messy and awkward fix. The only other negative is that you need to be aware when you open the top half to cut and remove the bag the top half is somewhat heavy, so it can start to move backwards when cutting & removing and pulling and tying the next bag. Overall, the Litter Genie is a great solution to the age-old litterbox dilemma and Pixel recommends it (and I do too).

Super-sized Snug Cat Litter Catcher Mat Works Great

This cat litter-catcher mat is super-sized to contain litter from even the most enthusiastic cat. It is 35.4" by 23.5". It's textured top catches and holds litter from the cat's paws or any that is spilled outside the litter box. Then you just shake the mat over the litter box to send all that litter back into the box. This not only helps reduce litter costs, but it keeps the litter from being tracked all over the house. I have 3 cats, they share one large box that is sifted several times a day. One of the cats loves the box and will play with the litter. This, of course, can create quite a mess. This litter catcher mat is large enough to catch any that is thrown into the air. This mat is very easy to clean. I just take it outside, give it a final good shake and hose it off. It could also be rinsed elsewhere. I definitely recommend this litter catcher mat to keep clean-up minimal and tracking of litter through the house down to nothing. It has a 5 year warranty, but looks like it will last much longer than that. A great product, well-made and does what it says.

#JazzyBruno Snout Balm softens and heals noses, paws, feet and elbows

Just as our hands and feet get dry and can crack, our four-footed friends have the same issues. Enter Jazzy Bruno's Snout Balm. This is a great product for them, and actually for us too. I wanted to make sure it was not too greasy, didn't have a scent, and actually softened the skin, so I put some on my elbow. The next day the skin was definitely softer and smoother with no irritation or greasiness. On the dog's nose it also softens and seems to heal the dry patches. It works wonders on paws, they just soak this balm in and the paw is much less dry and doesn't look like it is cracked. It really softens and heals. The ingredients are non-toxic to humans and pets. As you can see from my pictures, this isn't just for dogs, it's for kitties too. Both SweetPea and Kitt'N give their seal of approval. Kitt'N says it provides so much relief that he can snooze with soft paws now. I recommend this product for them and for us.

Clean Paws = Happy Feet

Having 3 cats, who all share 1 litter box, can be an issue if you are barefooted when trying to "scoop the box". We have tried having just a mat under the box, but we have one kitten who thinks he is digging to China every time he goes in the box. Placing this mat outside the box has made a tremendous difference. First, the cats are not tracking the litter way outside the box and second, this collects even the litter cast our by our digger. It has also saved on litter. Now we just pick up the mat and shake the litter back into the box. It is also very easy to just take the mat outside and rinse it clean with the hose rather than moving the box, picking up the tile covering that the whole box is sitting on, taking it outside and washing it, drying it, then putting it back, then moving the box back. We do have a little brush and dustpan, but this mat saves time and effort so we rarely need to use the brush and dustpan. There has been a noticeable improvement in litter-free floors with this Two Meows Mat. We do use the clumping litter, but I believe this would work as well with the clay-type litter. I definitely recommend the Two Meows Cat Litter Mat to keep the paws and feet litter-free. I have included pictures so you can see this Litter Mat in operation.
